Default V70R ing advice

I'm thinking of purchasing a CPO'd V70R. Can anyone offer advice as far as what to look for, lookout for, and any known problems with the later model V70R's?

The V70R's were better than the normal V70's.

They had a lot less problems so there isn't much to tell you to look for.

I'm considering only a late model ('04/'05) V70R. Are there any know issues with the engine? I heard it might be a Yamaha engine. I'm familiar with Audi five cylinder engines and there're bullit proof, but I'm not familiar with this turbo five at all.

They are great engine as long as maintained.

You can get 300,000 out of it easy.

Tech, in my post you said the AWD systems were sensitive, don't the Rs all have AWD? I'm looking at pre 200 though, are the new ones better?

My 2000 v70R is a fwd. Other than no cup holders and no delay wipers, I find no problems with the car.

No delay wipers? Wow, that would be annoying enough for me to not buy the car. Do all Volvo's come like that?

NO not all only some of them.

Some of the R's are AWD and others are FWD.

I believe all then new ones are AWD.

All the new V70 R's are AWD starting in 2004. Interestingly is the '06 V70R's with the automatic transmission now have the same torque numbers as the 6 speed manual. The folks at Volvo told me that they couldn't justify a new automatic transmission when the new R came out in 2004. However, with the sales of the XC90's doing so well, especially the new 300 hp models, they could justify putting the automatic from the SUV's into the low volume V70 R's. Now the V70R automatic cars should have numbers close to the manuals.
