Volvo Newbie - V70R AWD Manual...2004
Hi,
I've been lurking for a bit, and growing to love the Volvos...fortunately or unfortunately, I've found a 2004 Manual (fun!)V70R AWD and it is the most beautiful car I've ever seen. It has less than 80K miles...and only one owner who I believe took good care of it.
Love at first sight. Since Ford, I've learned through my readings on this forum, Volvos seem to have their issues and Warranty support lacking.
I'm in Canada and the car is in the U.S. So there is cross boarder issues for warranty work (it has almost 2 years more of extended warranty!) but that is neither here nor there. I'm prepared to drive a couple of hours to the nearest Volvo dealership in the U.S.
Would my husband be forced to work on it all the time?
BTW, this would be the family car for us so we'd be traveling across the U.S. in the summers camping...in this car...unless you all tell me to love it from a far.
All this to ask:
Should I buy it or avoid it ?
What would be fair market value?
Seems to be a rare breed with the manual drive.
Cheers,
Dane

19 is about the upper middle road price for a V70 R in canada now, you can get a deal if you keep looking.
The R is quite an amazing car, I travel with mine as well the last long weekend left Mississauga and went almost all the way around Lake Erie 787KM on one tank of fuel and that's not too bad for a 300HP garden market Wagon!!
The only thing i have bad to say about the V70R 04+ is that it has a horrible turning radius, but i've learned to live with that
If you're looking for a cheaper one you may be able to find a V70 AWD t5m or an XC 70, which may be a better idea if you're travelling with a lot of weight
if you buy a volvo and treat it right you'll be happy!
