Ive got a 98 V70R AWD with 143K on it. I have been wondering about the AWD part of it.
Can somebody explain how it is suppose to work. I was stuck..yes stuck in the snow and just the front wheel
werespinning...nuttin happening in the back. Somebody stole my angle (angry) gear?
I feel this dark clowd appearing over my car. I have seen stories about taking the gear out when it's
broken because they are costly to replace. What is costly? ive seen rebuild ones on ebay for 1350 or so.
Scam?
Any input on this matter will be greatly appreciated.

Anybody have any advice about the service light coming on turns off after about a min?

 

I am no expert but this may be some help. My driveshaft front joint has failed and would make a seriously unerrving noise. I decided to remove it to either replace or rebuild it. Get under there and see if it is still there, if you atr not the priginal owner it may be gone. As far as I could tell when I had mine on was that the front and rear moved the same, that is why I would notice the bad shaft so easily.

I have the same problem..2004 v70 2.5t awd. The awd does not engage with front wheel slip.Traction control does not work either.I put the car on a lift and the front wheels turn but not the rear. The driveshaft does spin though. I was told by my mechanic that it is probably electrical and to take it to volvo. Volvo told me it could be as simple as a fuse or the AWD module....... I have an app Jan 8 and I will let you know......
