Weird Electrical Problems

The dash gauges work intermittently. The ABS, check engine, and other warning lights are constantly illuminated. The text display says brake failure all the time, but the brakes seem to work fine. Also, the air blower or heating and air conditioning do not work. Cruise control also does not work.

My dad said this started happening after he took it to a mechanic.

How would I fix this problem?

The first step would be to scan the car with a compatible scanner that can talk to all the control units. After that formulate a reasonable, rational diagnostic path. You might simply have a bad DIM (drivers instrument module, the instrument cluster). It would however be unusual for the DIM to affect the CCM (climate control module) But a scan would hopefully point you in the right direction. A bad instrument cluster is not a unusual repair for your car.

A company such as xemodex can provide repairs or plug and play replacements for DIMs.

I checked the fuses, and a lot of them had the wrong amperage. I replaced the one for the blower motor with the correct amperage, and it now works. Also, the one that is for the ECM, Centeral electronic module, and airbags (its one fuse for all of them) was a 30amp instead of 10.
