where the ECM is located?????
Hi, I just bought many parts to repair my 2001 V70 2.4T (I have to change the ECU and the wiring harness) so the guy sent me also a part calledCEM that I have to replace to fit with the ECU... the problem is I just can't locate the old CEM... I tought it was under the dash (near the driver's door) but the part that I have there is quite different and I found it is called a CMA2 on a diagram.
Do I look at the wrong place? does the part I received is wrong? please help me, I've been waiting for 6 months to find an aftermarket part!!! I wish I can dive my volvo soon!

The Cem is further under the dash.
You have to look closely almost like at the bottom of the windsheild.
The Cma2 is the passenger fuse panel under the cover on the end of the dash.

oups, maybe I am blind but i can't figure where it is... and the dash is out from the car... I have nowhere to plug it... there only the CMA, un part connect to the wiring harness from the engine compartiment (wich is square) but where the f... is the CEM?
Is it LHD or RHD?
It is in a bracket that stands straight up.
Look at this link I am posting it is for a HID upgrade for the P2 cars to stop the bulb failure light.
But is shows where the CEM is and how to get it out.

yessssssssssss the picture is exactly what I have... but the part that I just received (please see the 3rd message) is smaller than what I have... and it's called CEM... the picture You've just sent is called CMA2 ... Somebody want to buy my volvo... it is easyer with a Chevrolet Cavalier!!!! ;-)
Ok just looking it over again I think I just figured it out.
What they sent you was teh Bare Bone CEM.
You need to remove all the relays and then slide the CEM out of the holder and swap it out.

well... it seems that I'll don't drive my car next week end!!! Thank You so much tech... by the way, is it true that if I change the CEM I have to change the ignition, the CPUand all that stuff?
If you install a used CEM you would need every computer out of the car it cam out of.
Or if it was new the dealer will have to install software to make it work.
