Default wing mirror

Some bastard ripped my drivers side wing mirror off on the weekend. My Indy mechanic tells me that a new one from Volvo will be AUD $711 just for the part.

If I buy one online from the USA, can i put right-hand mirror from a left hand drive on a right hand drive if i am putting the glass from the old one back in? ie is the convex glass the only difference?

While i'm at it does anyone happen to have a right-hand wing morror for a 2000 (2nd generation) V70 with driver position memory and retractible mirrors?

ASV are looking for one for me. in the meantime does anyone know if there are any issues, electrical or otherwise with putting a passenger side mirror from a left-hand-drive, onto the driveres side of a right-hand-drive. Just trying to keep my optins open.

I think the Glass itself is different.
Not sure about the plugs though.

Yeah i still have the glass from my old one. (My old one is tied on with gaffer tape and cable ties at the moment) so i was going to swap it over if i get a LHD one. i don't want the convex wide angle glass in my drivers side.

I hear you about the glass.
To replace the housing you will need to remove the door panel to replace.

Thought i'd follow up a couple of my old posts to keep you informed..

Got a second hand passenger side mirror from the USA on eBay. Managed to swap out the convex glass and put the old flat one in. Also changed the coloured panel with the old one so it still matches my car. I don't know if the demister still works as there is never any use for them in Sydney. The new mirror won't electronicaly retract. I don't know if this is because the one i bought doesn't have the feature or it wasn't wired to ( i don't think the feature was fitted on the donor car)... either way it doesn't bother me, at least its the drivers side so no hassle to manually push it in when necessary. The passenger side still retracts electronically. No problem adjusting the mirror electronically either.
