Default auto air conditioning works fine till it gets in the 90"s outside??

2020 XC40 40,000 miles

air conditioning works fine until it gets hot outside in the 90's. I've read some other post with same issue, made an appointment with the dealer as I have a bumper to bumper certified guarantee but, while waiting for the appointment date it worked fine. they had told me that it was $183 just to put it on the analyzer and if they could not re-produce the problem I would have to pay the $183. That was two months ago and we have had no problems with the air until this heat wave of over 90 degrees. my wife went out today for an appointment in the morning air worked fine, on the way home very little cooling from the system. The first time this happened I open the hood and watched the compressor clutch and it would turn on for no more that 5 seconds and turn off and on and off and on, never stay on for any amount of time .

Has anyone had any luck fixing this problem? would like to hear any suggestion or any fixed systems info

thanks Steve

Normally an undercharged system will do that. When it gets hot enough, it simply can't condense any refrigerant at that temperature. You might have a different problem, but the fundamentalist answer is undercharged.

Thank You firebirdparts

I will look into charging it. thanks again for your reply. why doesn't a dealer even suggest that, they work on these cars al the time. I wonder if the analyzer would have said I needed a charge?
