XC40 B4 MHEV - 48V battery heat?
Hello!
I recently bought a used Volvo XC40 B4 mild hybrid. I've driven if for ~1 500 km now (Car total ~ 16 500 km).
I noticed that that the metal cover of the 48V battery located in the back gets hot after driving the car for 1-2+ hours in the city. On short distances is stays cold. Battery part number is 36012980.
It is difficult to describe exactly how hot it gets, but sometimes it feels rather uncomfortable to hold your hands on if for more than a couple of seconds. Day temperatures are at 30-35 degrees C.
Thinking out loud, even when using a phone while charging during the summer, the battery gets hot, however I'm a bit worried about the heat of the car's battery - makes me think all the time if everything is OK...
Can you tell me how does the battery temp on your Volvos mild hybrid feel during the summer and what do you consider to be normal operating temp?
Thanks a lot!
