Default $4,300 to fix 2019 XC60 A/C???

My 5 year old, 32K miles 2019 XC60 A/C stopped working and took it to the dealer to fix. They are trying to charge $4,300 to fix it. They say they need to replace the "high side shradder valve evap" that is leaking. Vehicle if not under guaranty. Calle Volvo they offered covering parts only for approx $1,000 as good will. Dealer says needs 14 hours of labor for $3,300 as they say then need to take off the dashboard and for that the front seats. This sounds too much work for a relatively new car. Does this seem right? Anyone experienced something similar? This my have been my first and last Volvo to be frank.

I'm not all that surprised with the quote, assuming the failed component is part of the evaporator. We had to have the evaporator replaced on an older Volvo and it was about the same number of shop hours as the dash has to come completely apart to remove the evaporator. Then they need to replace any required parts, vacuum out the system and do a full recharge.

Following up on this. Ended up taking the car to a Firestone Auto Care and they fixed the issue for $420. No need for replacing any part no need for removing the dashboard and front seats. They just replaced a couple of o-rigns. Service is fully guaranteed. Car AC has been working well for two week including an 800 miles road trip with temperatures in the 90s. I think Patrick Volvo tried to find a way to get their mechanics billable and charge a customer with unnecessary work. I wonder if others have experience this. I contacted the dealer (Patrick Volvo in Schaumburg, IL) and they are silent. I reached out to Volvo and they responded stating that the quote was fair - unbelievable. In my eyes this hurts Volvo. I will file a formal complaint. $4,300 fix vs $420 fix. No way. First and last Volvo I buy.

I've owned Volvos for twenty years. Unfortunately I have found lately that quotes and repairs have become unconscionable over time. I have worked with dealerships in PA and FL and there is no difference. Of late it feels as if they have received the same training to maximize profits even though they are independent dealers.
Let me also add that I requested to add any discount coupons available at the time, and the service person said there were none. I discovered I had an old piece of mail from the dealer that was sent with discounts and it was still valid. I called the service person and told him and he said he was not sure he could apply it since the transaction was closed. Eventually the manager did provide a refund of the coupon amount. (with the treat of not using them in the future)
