Default 2022 Orders, Pricing, and CarPlay

I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger on an order for a 2022 XC-60 Recharge (T8) Inscription to replace my wife's Lexus RX. I'd like to hear from anyone else in the US who has placed a 2022 order for any type of XC-60. What sort of price were you able to negotiate on your order (relative to invoice or MSRP)? I'm not aware of any 2022 pricing being available, so am assuming you must have negotiated relative to eventual invoice or MSRP. Note I live in a pretty large market and there are several Volvo dealerships that I could go to if the first one I've been talking to doesn't give me a decent deal. I know this isn't the best time to buy a car given high demand and relatively low supply, but am hoping to learn from your experience to understand what is reasonable these days and to avoid paying more than I need to.

Also, what do you know about Apple CarPlay and the 2022 XC-60? I've seen info suggesting its release will be delayed. If true, I'm assuming that must be due to it not yet being fully integrated with the new Android infotainment system coming for MY 2022. Please share anything you may have been told by Volvo about when CarPlay will be available and if 2022's will get wireless CarPlay (not just wireless charging). I've seen conflicting things on this at various internet sources so don't know what to believe at this point.

Thanks!

What I'm going to say came from a lead service writer at one of the metro Atlanta dealers. I took my 2021 T8 (which I think is absolutely great) in to remove a nail and patch a tire (surprisingly a no-charge service) and talked to him about what I've been reading here re; the 2022 models and google interface. He said he's aware of it but most of the problems are because many of the dealers are taking shortcuts on the PDI (pre-delivery service and inspection). According to him, they have helped many customers from other dealers get things operating correctly. He said that the 2022 models require over an hour on a lift to download all that is necessary from the server and because of that time tying up lifts, many dealers are just not completing the PDI as they should, telling customers it will be a future update. I sort of believe this because if every 2022 delivered was having this problem, this forum would be blowing up and we'd probably see it on the news. I live in metro Atlanta and we have 5 dealers so with real competition a little more attention is given to customer satisfaction. I also spent 20 years in the car business as well as 20 years in the Navy.
FWIW, when I got my car the end of May, the stock of T8 models was basically non-existent, everything coming in if not already sold, the sales people had a list of people to call. That said, I went to three of the dealers letting them know I'd been to the others as well and then went home wondering if some would call me back. All three did! I got something called a repeat owner discount, a dealer discount, and a military discount. My factory window sticker was $67,310 and I paid $62,618. And to top that off, they had the car trucked in from a dealer in N.C. on a dealer trade. Dealers hate to lose out to another within the same brand.

I feel good recommending Volvo as a brand, but when you buy, talk to your dealer about your concerns and see if he/she can assure you of a good delivery. Best of luck and happy motoring

Whether or not the dealer has done the pre-delivery service and inspection correctly or not, it doesn't change the fact that these 2022's are being shipped without CarPlay, with all dealers saying a bunch of different things "end of the month" "February" etc, and the google interface is sparse as heck and buggy as heck.

As I said on another thread, when I called my service department about my GPS saying "searching" and no maps available, I was told I was the 4th call that morning due to an over-the-air service update.

Anyone thinking of pulling the trigger on a 2022, I wish I hadn't.

So sorry so many are having these issues. It does seem to go somewhat beyond an incomplete PDI. When I bought my 2021 the end of May, I was just in the mood and they gave a good deal along with an excellent value on my 2019 RAV 4 Limited Hybrid. Mine has the Sensus Nav system. It works just fine, as a matter of fact one of the best ones I've used so not sure what the thought process was in changing to Google. I know other manufacturers use it, wonder what the issue is with Volvo cars?
Best of luck for an early fix. BTW, w/Sensus, the maps are stored on the H/D and I'm still getting updates for different regions/countries I'll never go to LOL. Once yours is working you may be even better off getting maps live. Then, you'll be able to forget all these issues and just enjoy your car. You mentioned how quite yours was, I agree. Mine is so quite on good road w/radio off, I can hear myself breathing.

I got my 2022 XC60 about 6 weeks ago and was very disappointed about not having Apple Car Play. This is my third volvo and my husband has had 3 as well. I still DO NOT have apple car play and am VERY disappointed.

Now the end of January, and nothing from Volvo on Apple Car Play / Android Auto. Also very disappointed in my 2022 XC60 Inscription’s Infotainment system. Same bad dealer experiences with non- existent updates and I am not receiving any OTA updates, now two updates behind. My 2019 XC60 at least had these options, so this model 3 years later is a giant step backwards. Very bad on Volvo’s part.
