I'm currently driving across country and my suspension allnofna sudden became jacked up. See Pics. I made it to Amarillo, TX and found a Volvo Truck dealer. They weren't able to help, but they said there's nothing wrong with the suspension per se, it's the auto-leveling of the suspension that's out of whack. They said it's OK to drive, illl just be a bit bumpy. BIT is an understatement.
I got up bright and early to drive to Albuquerque to an actual Volvo car dealer and they were "too busy" to squeeze me in WTF! But they told me the same thing. It's something with the 'electronics" preventing it from "leveling". It's OK to drive until I can get it to a dealer who has the time to take care of their own cars!
Now in in Kingman, AZ and I'm getting worried. The ride today was like being in a non-stop bounce house. It made it 1400 miles, but I'm not sure it'll make the last 350 to a dealer in CA.
Has anyone experienced this and was able to trigger this damn leveling thing to kick in?
The front's not jacked up, it's at the normal height. The rear is flat. The rear air suspension is on the bumps stops. So there's no springs in the rear - that's going to be a horrible ride. Being a new car you really need a dealer to fix it under warranty - but if you are driving cross country - you are either going to have to live with it to your destination or stop, leave it and either wait (days?) for a solution or rent and continue then return when it's fixed. Maybe they will give you a loaner.
The ride height is controlled by an arm connected to a suspension member. A simple thing is the ride height sensor is not connected - that came off, was not tightened at the factory, etc. You might find someone who can lift the car and make sure the rear level sensor is still connected.
Other than that there is no simple solution. On most air suspensions before the car is lifted on a hoist - the suspension mode is changed so the car won't try to keep the car level with the wheels off the ground. On my 2020 (different interface than a 2022) there is a setting to disable the air suspension.
