2022 XC60 Remote start with Volvo Cars App (Android v5.8.1)
Is anyone in the US with a 2022 XC60, able to use the remote start to work with the android version of the app? There has been nothing official from Volvo stating that it's not available now and will be in the future. Volvo On Call tells me it should be working, but the dealer says that "it's coming". What's the real story?

I've had my xc60 about a month... so far I've not been able to use the remote start feature on the app... dealer really didn't have any information of when the app might update for Android
I got my car on 12/23/21. I have been able to use the remote start/preconditioning since day one. I do have a Recharge model, so I'm not sure if that is the difference. To my knowledge the gas engine has not run while I've used this feature, but I can confirm that the feature does work at least for me.
I'm using an android phone and before I took delivery of the car, the dealer spent quite a bit of time doing software updates, so I assume the car/infotainment is very current.
I have a Pixel 6 and and just updated to app v5.9.0. Still cannot use the remote start.
Are you setting a timer or starting the car in the app?
I was also told by Volvo that only T8 engines can use the timers and preconditioning, still waiting for them to provide me with documentation on this as my dealer gave me different info. Do you have T8 recharge?
I'm able to start it from the app. I haven't used the timers so far.
I do have a T8. I'm not sure if having gas only is the difference. I know that when I start it from my app, the car never starts the gas engine. It only uses the electric to heat it.
My new 2022 XC60 B6 remote start works fine from the app. No issues (I just got it today and couldn’t help myself, tried it out three times from various parts of the house…)

My T8 is the '21 model and I'm enjoying it every day. I kept complaining tho that they didn't hook the timer up to the charging system like they have in Europe. They said it would be in an upgrade but sadly no, it hasn't happened yet. Would be cheaper to charge where I live if I could set it to start charging at 11PM. Can your '22 model do that?

What version of the app do you have? What version is your software in your car?
I have a Pixel 6 with Android 12, and a 2022 B5 XC2022 and still can't remote start or remote lock. I know that version 1.9 is technically released, but my car is saying "no update available" and I have 1.8.1.

Can you tell me if you were using an Android phone? We got out XC60 B6 2 weeks ago and no one can get the remote start to work. So frustrated!
Remote start works for me. I have an IPhone 13 Pro and drive 2022 B6 XC 60 Inscription.
So it seems that it works on the iPhone but not Android. I haven't seen any definitive statement from an android user saying that remote start is working.
After opening a ticket with Volvo support A WEEK AGO, they finally responded with the following.
So, it's official that the Volvo Cars app does not work on an Android device.
I find it strange that the car was released when not fully functional, and not one dealer was able to tell anyone at the time of purchase that this functionality isn't available when the spec sheet gave the impression that it was not only available but working.
If Volvo has been aware of this from the start, why haven't they publicly said anything? Or at least send something out notifying owners!
Mine is a 2021 T8 and because of that, I have ver 5.11.0, and it has remote start for Apple or Android. I guess if you felt adventurous, you could download the app for a 2021 model and enter all of your relevant data. But after your vin, it most likely wouldn't take it.

It's ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous. The car is either missing features entirely, or the ones that it does have are half baked and buggy. My infotainment system has taken to restarting sporatically while I'm driving which is a huge distraction/inconvieniece. The thing that really bothers me is the inconsistency of external sensors (parking). Sometimes when I'm parking they work fine, other times I get no beeps or screen notifications that I'm near something. How do I know if the other safety sensors are working? At this point I simply do not feel safe driving the car.
I have a 2022 xc 60 and an iPhone 11. App hasn’t worked since the day I got the car. I have tried w the dealer and I have tried w Volvo customer care and no one knows what the problem is. Someone from customer care said a few weeks ago that the app was shut down. I emailed back to see if it was working yet and no one got back to me. My 2018 xc90 sent me notifications all of the time to tell me that the car was unlocked but I haven’t had it once. I am so angry. Volvo needs to be more communicative w their customers
