My new 2024 xc60 recharge has the same issue. The backup camera is too too dark to use. useless, and very dangerous!!!!
The latest 2.13.1 OTA update doesn't help at all! so so so disappointed!

My 23MY XC60, with all the latest updates, has the same issue. I have a long narrow driveway that I have to back down, and it's really dark looking through the rear camera. I find myself just using the outside mirrors, as they have better visibility than the backup camera at night. I hope they find a solution to this issue. None of my other vehicles have had this problem.

Default Camera and backup light

Just picked up my new XC60 recharge T8. It has the same problem the camera is too dark to see at night and the backup light is so poor. The camera always defaults to the 360' and not where I left it. The rear view on the camera is slightly better that 360' view. I can't see to park in the bay. I live remote so no street lights and I have to use a torch out of the window to see where I am parking. Have other people fitted extra lights or got a solution. The old 2021 XC60 was poor but not this bad.

Default Volvo should recall all XC60 to fix the backup camera! Shame on Volvo

Hopefully this is a software issue, not hardwares.
if so, Volvo should fire their software engineers, who have made the their app almost useless as well.

I would agree the app is poor, it keeps kicking me out saying that I have to reconnect the car because I have changed my phone.

Default I've got side camera issue too

MY24 XC60 T8

In my case, the right camera is too dark sometimes.
​​​I don't know if this is the same as the rear camera problem.

The same problem occurs in this OTA 2.13.3.

I have the same issue with the dark rear camera on my 2024 XC60. Everyone on this thread needs to call Volvo Customer Service 1 (800) 458-1552 to report the issue. Volvo needs to fix this dangerous defect.

Default Back up camera is horrible at night

I have a 2023 XC60 and the backup camera is useless at night it’s so dark. Worst backup camera of any car I’ve ever had. I’ve take the to dealer twice to evaluate and make it better and they say that’s how Volvo designed it. No solution. Yes- Volvo needs to do a better job and implement a fix for the backup camera.

I completely agree! I’ve asked the dealership in Manchester, NH, to look into this issue twice, but both times they told me they couldn’t find anything wrong with the camera. This is totally unacceptable. It’s time to take action—call Volvo Customer Service!
