Cameras not working
A message popped up on 2023 XC60 screen "Oops there's a problem", and now my cameras aren't working. The icon shows up on the bottom, but when you touch it, the icon changes color to blue and no cameras are activated. The rear camera does not work when I shift into reverse. The car is parked and locked all night for any updates; the latest one installed a couple of weeks ago without any issues. Every other part of the electronics/display is working. Up until now, the cameras were performing flawlessly. Anyone else have this issue? Any solutions?
So, I kept working on this problem on my own, not wanting to take the car into the dealer. I had read that the pilot/cruise control system relies on the cameras. I took the car on to the interstate, put it into auto pilot mode and observed. It bent the wheel properly on curves and maintained proper distance from the car ahead-- the cameras were functioning, just not displaying. Recognizing that the XC60 is basically a computer on wheels, I took the next logical step: rebooting the system. I pressed down and held the button under the display, which first showed a message about cleaning the screen then turned black. Hoping it was not the black screen of death, I kept pressing the button, and several seconds later the Volvo logo appeared. Then I released the button just like you do with control-alt-del, and the system booted up. Lo and behold, when I shifted into reverse, the rear camera displayed. (Computer) problem solved.
