Default Considering The XC60

I'm a long-time Volvo owner. 84 240DL wagon, 2 850s and I'm currently driving a 2003 S60 (manual tranny). I've owned the S60 new since 2003 and I'm considering a used XC60 as the next Volvo. What's the overall consensus on the XC60 model. I absolutely love the 5-cylinder engines and know I'll need to give it up. Should I go with a pre-Chinese model or does it not matter?

Thanks,
Bob

I love my 2019 XC 60 T8 Inscription! Lots of power if I want it, but I try and stay on battery as much as possible. The max range in ideal conditions is only around 25 miles, but it fits my lifestyle well. On long trips, it still gets very good mpg! on a 850 mile round trip..achieved 36mpg on the way up and 32 on the way home (calculated by pen/paper..cars computer had it a bit higher)

Mine was made in China. The factory there is high tech and reports stated they actually have more people on the line, so can spot issues quicker. Fellow on Swedespeed had bought a xc60 made in Sweden or belgium, then 6 months later bought another made in China. The 1 made in china had better alignment with regards to the body..the gaps were nice and uniforms. Its only 1 car,lol I dont think it matters. Im quite happy with my purchase

I have an older, 2nd hand, 2012 with the base 3.2 engine with the Premium Plus package. Not the fastest thing on four wheels, but more than enough power for everyday driving and mountains. I also love the styling of this generation. More of a lifted estate than an SUV look. The first gens are really good deals where I live. Absolutely one of the best long hauler road trip cars I have ever been in, and I've racked up thousands of long haul miles in my life.

It is not a perfect car. There is a little wind noise and it does have some FWD torque steer. Ride is not glass smooth but it always feels planted. Steering is a tiny bit numb, but no real complaints. I've tossed it through some narrow hairpin mountain roads and it felt safe and controlled. Gas mileage has been above its stated rating, which was a pleasant surprise. (rated 19/25 but I regularly get 23/27) Maintenance is so basic that I will probably keep it for years. (filters, fluids, brakes, tires, spark plugs)

The built in safety features are amazing. I have everything but BLS, lane keeping and adaptive cruise. It also has surprising acceleration at highway speeds.

I also never get tired of the interior.

The second gens are even better.
