Coolant Leak Help?
 

My 2010 XC60 R-Design with 145K miles is leaking coolant from the rear of the engine (between engine and firewall). I finally found the source, but have no idea how to proceed with repairing it, and Google/YouTube haven't been very helpful. The leak is coming from the joint between the back of the water pump housing and the metal tube (transfer pipe?). I'l assuming there's an o-ring in there that's causing the leak. But I can not figure out how to get at it. Is there a DIY article somewhere showing how to access that area?

I trust you have the t-6 engine - The pipes in the green square are behind the engine - not easy to get to because the exhaust is on top of them. I would pressure test the system and figure out exactly where it is leaking - then develop a plan to solve it. Whether that is a DIY or a professional fixing it. Those pipes are not an area where I've seen any leaks - (other than the water pump itself can leak and spray all over the place back there)

Yes, it's the T6 - I should have noted that. A pressure test isn't necessary. I know where the leak is coming from. I just can't figure out to get access to it. Based on what I can see with a mirror and snake cam, it looks like my leak is coming from the O-ring that's #22 in the parts diagram. I did the best I could to get some photos, but it's in a very inaccessible spot. Is there any way to replace that O-ring with the engine in the car??

From underneath. Not an easy photo to get!

Might be easier taking the water pump housing off to get to it - (which is still a very large job requiring many special tool to align the cams) - rather than the pipe off the engine. It's unusual for those orings to leak - so am wondering what caused it. Either way as you can see it's going to be very difficult to get to.

Don't hate, but hear me out: Would it be feasible to remove the water pump and somehow seal that joint from the inside? Can it be reached with the water pump out? Neither of the other options is particularly appealing!
