Default Difference Michelin latitude sport 3 105v 255/45R20 VOL or Extra Load?

My front tyres are currently Michelin latitude sport 3 105v 255/45R20 EXTRA LOAD
My rear tyres are currently Michelin latitude sport 3 105v 255/45R20 VOL

Is VOL and EXTRA LOAD the same? If not what is the difference?

The 105 is the load rating of the tire. The “VOL” means the tire was specifically manufactured for Volvo

I also noticed tha a 'VOL' tyre of this type is always also an Extra Load (XL) tyre. Am I right?

Any 105 tire in 255/45/20 is extra load. Regular load is 101.

Default 105v vs 105y

My 2015 XC60 R Design Platinum Polestar calls for 255/45/ZR20 105y which is a higher load rating than 105v. I believe that all R-Designs have the 20”’s and require 105y

The y and z are the speed ratings for the tires. This is different from the load ratings
