I have a 2015 XC60 with 40K miles that has eaten the inside edge of the tires and it seems to be coming from the rear. I hadn't noticed the wear since the dealership was doing the maintenance and tire rotations. I was checking the tread depth and was quite surprised to find such uneven wear. I also wonder why the dealership never said anything about it as it was quite noticeable.


I will be calling the dealership Monday to discuss it with them, but has anyone here had the same issue? If so, was it covered under warranty work? I would assume there is some adjustment to the rear suspension that would adjust the camber?

 

I'm not sure if there are adjustments for the rear camber. I do know that if the toe in is off, it can pretty quickly cup the rear tires (just had to re-skin my VW CC because the rears wore on the inside due to alignment). What I'd ask the dealer to do is a full four point alignment and have them give you the before/after printout with the specs. Then you can see if the alignment was off to begin with and whether the camber is in spec. If the camber is off, they will likely need to replace the upper control arms in the rear (due to worn bushings). Its not all that uncommon for a shop to mess up the alignment job so if it doesn't feel right have them put it back on the rack for a second measurement after a test drive.
