Hi Guys,

I recently replaced winter tires to Summer tires used the same Lug Nuts, while doing a test drive i heard a loud click sound (like some nut being broken). and further i did a highway ride and turns and didn't encountered same issue again. Do you foresee any problem which i need to relook ?

you should always retorque lug nuts 50 miles after wheel/tire service. check your owners manual but typically the torque specs are 80-85 Ft-Lbs for lug nuts and 100-105 for lug bolts. you may have heard a nut or wheel centering on the hub. I assume you used a torque wrench or did you just go by feel?
Also keep in mind Volvo rims are hub-centric meaning the center of the wheel must set itself within the lip of the hub before tightening.

I always use the cross star pattern followed by a circular check ie if you were to number the bolts 1-5 in a circle, go 1-3-2-4-5 to get close to the spec then 1-2-3-4-5 when setting the correct torque with my torque wrench. Curious if others do the same.

 

Thanks, I assume the same "wheel centering on the hub", Since after running for several hundred kms, i didn't experienced same sound.I use torque wrench to tighten the lug bolts (142nm).
