Default Hold on, off

Whenever I drove on the highway in my 2018 XC60 T8, I always put the battery on hold. A little bracket would appear around the blue charge indicator and the ICE would kick on. My battery charge would be maintained or even increased during the trip. However, since I traded in my 2018 for a new 2022 ER T8, the battery hold didn’t work. When I put hold on, a little padlock appeared in front of the battery charge indicator, but the battery continued to drain as I drove. Am I doing something wrong, or is this a defect I need to call my dealer about?

Mine is a '21 model so works pretty much like your '18 model. It sounds like the padlock is telling you it's working, but if it isn't, a trip to the dealer and having them plug it in to check the diagnostics systems should give you the answer. When you try to charge it by driving w/gas only, does it raise the charge level? Mine does, but kills the great MPG just driving in hybrid mode give.

What I’ve noticed and verified is that if I turn on my A/C then put the battery on hold, it does not hold and steadily decreashes, however, if I put the battery on hold first, then turn on the A/C, the charge does hold. Weird.
