Default Latest Update won't install XC60

I have a 2025 XC60 and the current version of the software is 3.7. There is a message to update to the latest 4.2.13. I have tried about 5 or 6 times to update and on my phone app, it says "installing update". After awhile, it just stops. For some reason I can't update. I did a reboot of the OS, ran the update and still nothing. Any suggestions on how to update?

I have a 2026 XC60 B5 Plus and had similar issues. First day while parked in driveway the install continually dropped; I moved car several times for better reception. One time the app indicated “installing” for several hours but it never completed. Today I started install, locked car and went for a drive during which I noticed a cloud with down arrow icon on screen at top of infotainment screen; presumably downloading indicator. Within an hour I got message it had installed. Hope this is helpful.

I put the car on the street so maybe it can get a better signal, but now it says that the current version is 3.7. The message below says "Your car is up to date. You'll be notified once a new update becomes available." That's weird because it does show that there is an update 4.2.13 that was released December 15th.

I got a message on the infotainment screen that 4.2.13 was available and followed directions in the car but didn’t get out. I locked doors and took it for a drive…it downloaded/installed as I was driving. My daughter has an XC40 and all her updates have installed while she drove.

Wow. That's amazing. The notification said it could take 90 minutes, but I am guessing it went much faster. Probably not a major update.

I was able to update yesterday without issue (2022 XC60 Recharge, Release 3.7.0 to 4.2.13). I have my car set to download the software first, then I think (?) it can perform the upgrade "offline" without needing a signal.

I do wish they'd be more forthcoming in their release notes. This is the first update available over-the-air since 3.7 and they bumped what is usually the "major" version number (3 to 4), yet the only detail we get is "This update includes minor refinements and stability improvements"? Maybe they aren't using typical "major.minor.patch" version numbers, but I'd still like to know what they think they've fixed, or intentionally changed, etc.

I finally gave up with the updates as each one failed. I took my car to the Volvo dealer this morning and they did the update for me. Quite an ordeal as the dealership is 45 miles from my house.

This update downloaded and installed successfully following the instructions on the infotainment screen. We have a good signal in our neighborhood and other updates had no problems. Not sure how long this one look since I didn't check back for several hours. Nothing appears to be new, but accelerating from a stop feels a little peppier and smoother.
