Picking up a new XC60 on Thursday
My wife choose a new XC60 Inscription today. Will take delivery on Thursday. She wanted a compact SUV with heads up display, Nav, AWD, safety etc. She has had AWD on several sedans Audi A4’s and A6’s. She ordered an Audi Q5 hybrid in March 2021 and they still haven’t shipped it.
She got frustrated with Audi and decided yesterday that she wanted to shop cars again.
Audi isn’t selling any Q5’s at at all as they are all under recall, Acura didn’t have any cars, our local Cadillac dealer wanted $3000 over sticker on a XT-5 demo with 1200 miles. Volvo had 3% discount and was fair on her trade.
What should we look for when she takes delivery of her new Volvo?

Congrats on your purchases. I've had my 2022 XC60 for a month now.
I am sure you will hear/see alot about the Infotainment system.
A few suggestions:
I am sure you will hear/see alot about the Infotainment system.
A few suggestions:
- Make sure they give you a really good walk thru of the features of the car. Some things that you would think are obvious (like how do I see my total mileage to date) are not so straightforward. It took some time when we did the pickup of the car at the dealer, but it was actually worth it.
- Make sure they have updated the Infotainment system to the latest version
- See what kind of deal they can offer for Pre-Paid maintenance plans -- then price that with what you can get at Steingold Volvo online.
- Get ready to be frustrated by the Infotainment system (no Apple CarPlay, buggy apps like Sirius radio)
- Have them help you setup the Infotainment with your Google account -- for using Maps, etc
- Make sure they phone charging pad is turned on and test it out while there
Not yet. You can see alot of references to that in this Forum. Supposedly will come out in first half of 2022.
You are able to connect your iPhone to the car but you won't get the CarPlay feature of seeing everything on the Volvo screen.
So you can make calls, play music, etc -- but its more limited feature-wise than full CarPlay.

Yes, you definitely can. Suggest you have a Gmail or Google account for ease of set-up. I have an IPhone and an Outlook email Addie but it all works wirelessly.
The delivery went well, Our sales lady was patient in explaining features to my wife. The finance manager said extended warranties double in price the day after you drive off. That pressure turned me off. I'll give the dealership top marks if surveyed as a bad score would reflect on the saleslady.
Is the service plan worth it? The dealer wanted $2999 for the 7/70 plan. Steingold is cheaper. If we purchase it will probably be the 3/30 plan for $1659. Extended warranty is also less at Steingold.
I tend to go to independent shops for service and repairs after the factory coverage ends. Is that logical for a Volvo? $1659 for 3 services seems excessive.

Best of luck. And also know most things will also have a deductible.
I did not purchase the extended warranty, as it felt like the price was too high, even at Steingold.
I am still considering the pre-paid Maintenance, as that is more of a given value -- though that assumes you continue to go to the dealer for the standard maintenance. That said, if you don't buy the Extended Warranty, you don't need to take the car to the dealer beyond the 3 year window.
By the way, try "Swedespeed" promo code for $200 off on Steingold.
I'm thinking about the 5 service pre-paid plan for $2015 after the discount -- as that is probably $700-800 less than current dealer costs for those services in my area.

The ride was a bit rough. I stopped at a tire shop and had them check the air pressure. All four tires had been inflated to 10 pounds over the recommended level. The ride immediately got smoother.
The wireless phone charger is nice to have. USB outlets are all the new C type so I’ll need to get new cords so that the back seat passengers can charge their phones.
it’s disappointing that Google doesn’t control the Sirius/XM station. I hope that Apple CarPlay is operational soon, as promised.
the mild-hybrid display is not explained in the manual so I’m not sure what it is showing me. The trip computer is confusing.

I do find that Sirius is easier to manage if you flip thru the channels while the infotainment screen is on the home page (where you see big bars for Maps, Device, etc). That way seems to be more reliable to see the song and channel info than having the Sirius app take up the whole screen with the album images (where the channel and album labels seem to always freeze up).
