Hi, new here, and I haven't found an answer to my problem in past posts. I have a 2015 XC60, 155K miles. Well maintained. Last week, while slowing to a stop to make a U turn, the car just shut off on its own when it had almost stopped, Electric was gone, nothing on the dashboard. I opened the hood, tried to bang on the battery cover a few times in case something was loose. About three minutes later the electric came back on, the car started, worked fine.
Now six days later, the same thing happened, slowing to a stop on a highway. When almost stopped, the car shut off, no electric, could not even put on the hazard lights. Tried the same banging on the battery cover. The electric came back on soon after, Car started and since then has run fine.
Don't know if the banging on the battery is bringing it back, or if it just needs time to reset. I did see a Youtube video about a reset cartridge on the positive battery cable.
Any thoughts on this? I have an appt with Volvo next week, but I'd prefer to fix this myself if it isn't a major problem.
I would look over the battery connection, and flex the wires while the engine is running. I would also check the fuses and ground straps and also try moving the ground straps while the engine is running. I have heard that a common failure is the engine/transmission ground strap.

Thanks, I'll have the dealership check it out at my appt next week. So far, it hasn't shut off again -
On the battery terminals - there are "fuses". If mistreated they can crack/break and cause problems such as yours.
Do not order the part below - it is just representative and there are many choices depending on your specific car.
I am also curious what the problem was. This is currently an issue on my 2015 s60.
Thanks
After checking all the suggested issues I couldn't find a problem. Then I realised the car still had the original eleven year old battery. Brought a quality replacement battery, fully charged it, and installed it. Four weeks later the problem hasn't recurred.
I suspect the system may have detected a fault (in the battery) and shut down to protect itself. No evidence to back this up except that the problem has gone away.
I had seen a "Battery low" warning a few times after driving some distance which didn't make sense.
Hope that is of some use.
