Default Software Version 2.2

I received an email from Volvo stating that I needed to bring my 2022 XC60 Inscription B5 into the workshop for the upgrade to 2.2 as it will not be provided OTA. I am in the US. Is this common as I thought a big plus was more frequent updates and convenience to be provided by OTA updates ?

The USA B5s have to get the 2.2 software update at the dealer. The previous updates were over the air, but there was some problem with the 2.2 on our B5s, so Volvo is requiring the dealers to do the update.

I received the same email from Volvo.
This new software is with AppleCar play. Maybe its such a major update that it can’t be done over the air🤷🏼‍♀️

funny thing is that the nearest appointment I can get at my dealership is in the middle of September. In 1,5 month

i wish it could be done OTA!

I got the email too and tried to schedule an appointment for the software update at my local dealer. The person from the Service department talked me out of it over the phone citing "lots of issues."

Guess I'll wait a bit longer to get V2.2. My XC60 is still running V1.10. That was apparently the last OTA update?

Default Got 2.2 at dealer

Dealer installed 2.2 on my B5 this week. They had a lot of trouble getting it done and I was there 2 hours. The tech said the B5s have been hard to install 2.2 on. I don't have an iPhone, so I can't tell any difference from the previous software version.

If you get the update, be sure to check if the systems modem has connected successfully before leaving the dealer. When using CarPlay it works but Im assuming it's using your phones modem. When disconnected from CarPlay the modem will not connect. Gotta go back tomorrow

Does the new software change something regarding the possibility do display something except maps in the middle of the digital instrument panel? For example current song/radio station or fuel usage, last calls and other car-essential information?

Went back to the dealer and got the modem connected. Now the only issue is the app won't recognize the car. Customer service is saying to add another profile then delete the old one. Hopefully after this it will be back to normal. I have never used CarPlay before. Overall, I don't think it's worth the headache as you still need to plug your phone in to use it. The google onboard system seemed far superior even being a apple guy. I do like the ability to use Waze now. I still haven't figured out how to play video when parked.
The car seems like the shift points are different. Not as revy and I hear the turbo more it seems. The dash seems slightly different can't tell what but slightly it is. When map is not active it is still black however, when in navigation mode it was displaying arrows in that space when I needed to turn. I don't know if this was like this before as I always have the map active in the dash.

2.2 is installed on my XC60. It doesn't have Apple CarPlay. It's just as buggy as previous releases. When the car is hot, the system reboots soon after starting the vehicle. You can no longer play music on from a usb drive - which is a bummer since I spent $3200 USD on the B&W stereo which can now only play streaming music. What a waste. What a crappy product Volvo has released.

Default When was 2.2 installed?

What date was 2.2 installed on your car? When 2.2 was first released, it did not include Car Play. The 2.2 version rollout was then paused for a time and recently released again including Car Play.

Ours was installed Monday Aug 1, had issues took it back the next day. Today Im still not 100% back to normal yet as the app still doesn't recognize the car.
I agree after the update it has been more buggy than normal. I have had to hard reset the infotainment system several times to get it to work right.
Tonight, I will see if adding a new profile connects the car back to the app.

Really? Shouldn't 2.2 become 2.3 or something if they changed the build? Anyway, it was installed July 6th.

Default July 11

The REVISED 2.2 software update was released July 11, so if you installed the initial 2.2 before then the Car Play feature did not work. Volvo has really made this way more confusing than it should have been!

Lightbulb 2.2 Software Update - Experience After the Update Installed

Can anyone provide insight as to how Apple CarPlay works after the 2.2 software update? Can you access all the apple apps?
- Music
- Maps
- Contacts
- Mail
- Messages
- etc.

Does the update really work?

I have to bring mine in as well .... I think it is because the update has Apple Car Play and its to large to do OTA.

Exclamation Feedback on the 2.2 Software Update

Hello,

I'm trying to get some feedback after the 2.2 software updae has been applied. Did Apple CarPlay work? Can you access the core Iphone apps (Music, Messages, Mail, Phone, etc.) on the infortainment system?

Thanks - Andrew
