Hello Guys
I'm new in this forum, sorry for bothering you with maybe an old thread. This is the first Volvo I'm working on 2009 xc60 diesel It's a manual transmission and refused to start. There is a click sounds that comes from the fuse box from the passenger side whenever you tried to start the vehicle.

I'm no expert but over the years I have seen that "click but no start" situation a number of times. I think in my experience it was aways a dead or tired battery. See if a jumper will get it started.

It could be a problem with the starter motor itself, the starter relay (it did at least make a click so this is unlikely) or a wiring problem to the starter motor. The click is the relay which should open up the juice from the battery to the motor.

Thank very much for taking your valuable time to respond to my message. I will look at all the points you have highlighted and keep you posted on the outcome. Thanks again.

If the click actually did come from the fuse box then I am unsure of my previous answer, but I think the click actually came from the starter relay and that is probably deeper into the engine compartment than the fuse box. It is hard to isolate sounds though.

Default Xc60 diesel engine no crank no start

The click sounds is coming from the fusebox which is under the glovebox. Whenever you press the start button, you hear double click from the fusebox and no crank from the engine. From the scan tool these are some of the trouble codes among others: ECM- P061600, P061611, P010116.

Well, I am at a loss because I don't know what there would be in a fuse box that clicks. I might believe that a fuse can make a noise when it blows, but that would be only once (even if doubled that one time) but that seems unlikely. Is there something in the fuse box other than fuses? Perhaps some sort of (self-resetting?) circuit breaker? Seems unlikely. Did you try firmly reseating all the fuses? Try to further isolate where the sound is coming from.

I googled ECM- P061600 and found references to starter relay wiring.

Time to see a repair shop or dealer.

If you plan on tightening the connections to the starter relay, be sure to disconnect the battery first. You can get a dangerius shock. Knock you on your butt! Just look at the size of the wires down there!
