Timing belt and water pump
#3
what year / model? Most timing belts are due at 10 years/120K some older models are more frequent and some of the S40s with a specific engine code are longer. Volvo water pumps are fairly stout and most last 2X the timing belt but you need to inspect for any weeping. Here's a handy link to the factory service bulletin. Just look at the timing belt cover or the firewall build plate to get your engine code (or use a VIN decoder).

Your owners manual will tell you your service intervals. If you don't have it, Volvo's website has them.

Hmmm...I thought I had the YMM in my initial post. 2013 XC60 T6.
I went to the dealer last summer for read brake pads. $300 later, as I was walking out the parts guy says "you need a special tool". Of course I do....right? So I ask how much. He said over $100k. What????? He said to go talk to service. Well, they saw me coming. He tells me the parking brake is actuated in park and if you try to bypass it you will ruin the software and it will need to be reset.....at a cost of $2500. OK....I bit and another $500 to install the pads I just bought....I will NEVER go back. Fast forward a year and the car ripped up the set of pads and I ordered a set and rotors online for $200. I figured out how to work around the parking brake actuator. All BS from the dealer. THIEVES.
