XC60 Shuts Off when driver door opened
I have a new 2022 XC60 Inscription B5. I noticed that when car is running and parked, if I open the driver side door (with the key still inside the vehicle) the car shuts off. This seems unusual to me. Can anyone comment if this is normal ?
Mine does too and it is quite irritating. It was running with the air conditioning on and I put it in Park to get something out of the cargo area. As soon as I opened the door the engine shut off. I left my mom in the running car when I went into the bank and the car shut down immediately when I opened the door. It is over 100 degrees outside, so air conditioning is important.
I guess they did this as a feature of mild hybrid.
Here's a workaround I use to avoid the car being shut off when opening the door (especially when you leave someone in the car):
- Pull up parking break button instead of go to P and keep your shifter in N and open the door, the car engine will stay on
- After open the door, press the P shifter; then you can leave the car, it will stay on.

If you leave your seatbelt buckled before you open the door it should leave the car running. I’ve had the same issue. I think if you unbuckle your seatbelt before you open the door, the car cuts out. Check it out.
