XC60 Tailgate won't open
My 2016 CX60 Tailgate won't open using any method - remote key fob, tailgate switch or button inside the car - none. I have a wiring diagram and think my next option is the Tailgate Control Module Unit (my car does not have a tail lift its a manual one :-))- but i don't know where it is ...anyone know where to find it please?
The fix was a new tailgate switch - i'd had the unit out and it tested ok with a meter, but when i eventually took the car to a local Volvo specialist thats all he said he changed. Its now fully working.
its only a micro switch so not much to go wrong and my tailgate lock motor and switch have been replaced and still it won’t open .if I stick a live direct to the plug feeding the motor I can open the boot but then it blows F11 fuse
The symptoms were none of the access methods worked - not the tailgate micro-switch, the boot release in the car (dash) or the key fob. Which made life very awkward when you have two dogs that travel in the boot. Spent ages researching and acquiring wiring diagrams but everything looked ok with a meter. Changed the boot/tailgate release latch, and replaced the wiring harness due to a dog (not mine - son's puppy retriever) chewing the wires when i had the trims off for testing access - none of that worked. Eventually took it to an independent Volvo specialist who swapped bits around with another XC60 and it was the tailgate micro switch (& associated assembly number plate bulbs etc) that was replaced even though it seemed to test ok with a meter. All working fine again now. Incidentally, prior to changing the tailgate unit it seemed to burn through number plate bulbs quite often. May have been a coincidence.
