2000 XC70 transmission AW55-50 replacement
My 2000 XC70 AWD wagon has a bad transmission (fluid is like taffy) and is throwing a code for a bad solenoid (up arrow flashing). Plenty of clutch material in the fluid after I drained and flushed it. So now I'm trying to find a used transmission from a salvage car to replace it instead of spending $3500 to have it rebuilt. I'm wondering if there are other Volvo's that use the same transmission. In other words can I use a S70 transmission in the XC70? It's difficult to find a low mileage transmission for this car. I own a 1999 S70 and a 2000 XC70 and I took a look at the serial plate on the top of the transmission and it appears they are both the same models 50-42LE. So my question is besides the transfer case (which I don't need) is there anything different between the two transmissions?
