I drive a 2014 Volvo XC70 with 92,000 miles on it. The air conditioner does not work for more than a couple minutes when I put it on "Auto" and set the temperature, even when the car is no where near the temperature I have set it at. However if I leave the auto feature off, set the temp to 66, 68, 70 or whatever and just run the fan with the AC it works perfectly fine. Cold air both ways, just a matter of it staying on.
Any ideas? Local mechanic said he can't figure it out and said maybe the dealer can do a more in depth diagnostic to figure it out. I just don't want to go in without any idea what to look for.
Dealer will be able to use their VIDA DICE to communicate with the climate control computer to see if there's any fault codes. Sounds to me like the climate control computer is at fault or perhaps one of the temp sensors (there's actually a few of them in the car) - that's where the dealer's diagnostics is the appropriate next step.
