not a rear axle but the driveline. Say a prayer w/ me that its whats causing the shudder when turning. I plan on removing it but wondered if there were any tricks to it or tips on easiest way etc.

And BTW what exactly goes bad on them and can they be rebuilt/repaired?

Just to be sure - you're talking about the driveshaft from front to rear, correct?

Tips - make sure the allen head bolts are clear of dirt, use a correct size & unworn tool, and tap the hex into the socket to ensure it is fully seated in the bolt. Do not use impact of any kind, but smooth, in-line torque to loosen the bolt. In fact, a flex-head ratchet is best because you can flex the ratchet so the handle is in the same plane as the fastener heads.

Remember the center bearing housing is bolted to the same bracket that the exhaust is hung from. So there are two bolts to be removed here, too.

Be safe and use jackstands.

I got a remanufactured driveshaft from Colorado Drive Shaft for about $410. It has been in the car for two months and is working great. The driveshaft job is quite easy.
