Default Breather System

Hey Gents.
New to the forum.
I'm gearing up to work on the wife's wagon.
She got a CEL the other day for the first time.
Drove it home and I checked it out.
On a warm start idled rough and smelled rich.
I went over it, noticed low oil and residue around filler cap.
(Put oil in it), and pulled the codes off with my scanner: PO101, PO170 -- which I know are pretty generic.
I erased the codes (yes, this pissed the dealer off), but I wanted to see if they would reproduce when I took it out on the road.

They did not, and it ran fine.
Ran it over to dealer and they have diagnosed breather system failure.
In short, the estimate ran $960.00.

I guess I'm in agreement with diagnosis -- but not cost, I was going to do a balloon test tonight.

I'm assuming common issue by my research.
Can you guys give me some tips or direct me to a helpful thread or give me a resource for parts/kit?
I got a comfort level with a wrench, restoring a she-devil 928 as we speak.

Regards.
