Change of harddisk in a 2015 XC70
I just bought a 2015 Volvo XC70 and when going trough the media system I found that the internal harddisk (surprised they even had one) only has 10GB of storage capacity. As I have closer to 60GB of music on my USB-pin I was wondering if it's possible to change the harddisk. I asked Bilia (Norway), but they would not do it because they had no official instructions on how to do it. So I was wondering if anyone else has done it, and if it's at all possible considering the whole car is controlled by microprocessors.
People have done similar with Tivo boxes. I'd think there'd be two things in play a) determine the disk drive specs (drive type, formatting etc). b) do a format/disk copy that moves everything including any iso files (ie hidden OS files). My bet is the system is Linux based so you may want to read up on what that would entail. c) see if you can set the drive size to something bigger than 10G. The only concern here is this may be set by the programming and not the physical device. Not sure how you'd alter that :-(
PS - keep your hard drive. worst case is this fails and you reinstall the original drive.
