I have a 2008 Volvo XC with 150000 miles on it. In the last few days I have had the 150000 service done and a new alternator installed. After i drove the car for 30 minutes and turned it off, the dash went blank and needed a jump to restart. I had the charging system tested and the battery tested, all are good. The car is sitting in my driveway right now dead....I will have to use a key to ope the door. Thoughts? All this service was done this week.

 

something is shorted and draining the battery or the alternator is not charging properly. Does the car stall or just refuses to restart without a jump after sitting? Have you put a volt meter on the battery posts with the car off and the car running? I guess its time to jump again and take it back to the shop so they can correct the problem.

 

Thank you for your response. The car did die twice on the road and had to be jumped. It goes back to the shop on Tuesday.
