Doing oil change today, pulled filter cap off and found this piece floating around in there. Best I can figure, (I don't remember what it looks like inside) it came off of the lower edge of the thin metal ring inside the housing (see pics). It seems to be some sort of tensioner or seal type thing. Anyway, new housing is days away and family needs the vehicle to run now as I'm leaving out of town before the part will arrive. I'm not sure of the criticality of the part. It was running fine while broken, so what are the odds I throw it back together and it run fines?? Any input helps, thanks!
Appears to have come from lower portion of thin metal ring

UPDATE
Slapped it back together, runs fine no abnormal running or sounds. Probably change the housing next oil change, looks like fun.
