i posted earlier about our 1998 xc and how a fan at the grill of the car stays on after the car is turned off and everyone that responded (thanks) said that it was normal but i just turned on the car to test the radio and turned the key to the second setting( before turning on the car) and the fan came on. I never started the car but the fan came on after i turned the key to the second setting. I told my mom and she said that the fan sometimes shuts off with the motor and sometimes stays on (mostly stays on).

 

Try doing that with the A/C turned off.
If the A/C is on the fan can come on.

 

well we went to the dealer (good place to go when you have problems) and found out the problem was a temp. sensor fixed it and all was fine. I bet an OBD-2 reader could have told us that.

 

OK cool that would have been my next guess if the fan would have stayed on with the A/C switch in the off position.
