Front Brake Service

Can anyone give me any hints/tips/tricks on a DIY front brake job? I have a 2004 XC70and I need to replace the front rotors and pads. How difficult a job is this for someone with no specialized automotive tools and average mechanical ability?

It is pretty easy and straight foward.
You will need a 7MM allen for the caliper bolts.
You will need a 15MM socket for the caliper bracket bolts.
You will need a 10MM wrench or socket for the rotor hold down bolt.
You will also need a screwdriver and pliers for installing the spring.

Tech-
I appreciatethe quick reply. A few questions, if you don't mind:

1. Will I have to bleed the brakes after the new pads and rotors are installed?
2.Will I need to use brake grease and/or brake cleaner?
3. I have 16" inch wheels. What size rotors do I have, and can you recommend any particular brand and supplier for the rotors and pads?

Thanks.

1.No bleeding you are not opening the system.
2.Brake grease on the back of the pads.
3.Not sure you could have both sizes measure the ones on the car.
Buy Brembo or Zimmerman rotors.

A couple of tips I always tell first timers regarding brakes. 1. Take your time and try to keep the new parts as clean as possible. 2. Take apart only one sideat a time. That way if you forget how something goes back together, you can always look at the wheel you haven't taken arat yet.
