Default Headlights always on

I recently purchased a 2001 XC 70. The headlights are always on. In the owners manual it says that this can be changed so that they will operate normally. Does anyone know how to make this change.

I too have just bought a V70 2001. My manual says to consult dealer to alter the daylight running lights. But I would like to know how to DIY.

Why not just leave them on?

So it can be done? I'm not totally understanding. Also, what is it that the dealer does?

Hmmmm, sounds like one could hack the whole car with the right stuff. But all that's beyond me. That's a shame.

Still not sure why you wouldn't just leave them on.

Default 12 bulbs

The DLR feature keeps all of your lights on all of the time that your key is turned on. That means if you are working on your car's electrical system and need the key to be on your battery is being drained. If you turn the switch to the parking light position that turns the other lights off but you will inevitably forget to turn them off and the next morning your battery is dead. Also, automotive bulbs are not cheap. And finally, keeping your headlights on all of the time means heat buildup that will fry your connectors. just replaced 2 of them on the dim lights, the connectors were so brittle from the heat they crumbled. You can get the DRL turned off at the dealership... for a price. Volvo makes nice cars and then goes far out of its way to make things inconvenient and expensive.
