Default HID Headlight Assembly Replacement

Hey all.. I'm new to this forum so please forgive any ignorance... I need a replacement Lens only (HID) for a 2006 xc70.. drivers side.... i've looked online and am having trouble finding.... so my question is this.... Will the lens from the Halogen assembly fit the HID assembly... lights are working fine... plastic lens just cracked.... Is it even possible to just replace the plastic lens?...Dealership wants an outrageous amount of money for replacement assembly....

You can't just get a replacement lens, as they are a bonded assembly. Have you tried looking to see if a local junk yard may have a headlight unit. Or maybe find a car that's being parted out, and there's always e-bay. You can perform surgery on your unit and one with a good lens, but then you'd have to re-seal, bake it and hope it doesn't leak any. But at that point a complete used one could probably be had for about $100-150 (ebay). You can also get new genuine parts from company's like IPD or fcpeuro for less than dealer prices.
