Default idle and stalling issues newbie question..

i have a 00 xc70 with 156k on it (all service up to date). was driving last week and noticed a very loud whooshing noise. as i own an lancer evolution and had a very similar experience i knew an intercooler pipe had blown off. i popped the hood saw nothing then got under the car and the lower intercooler hose clamp had completely rusted and let go. put on a new clamp and started up the car. now my idle runs high 1100 rpms and if i hit the gas in park say to 2500 or so the car almost stalls. any ideas or suggestions?

I would check and clear the codes in the ECM. The light might not be on but there is most likely a code in there.

i pulled the code and it was P0142. i looked up the generic obdII codes and it states "P0142....O2 Sensor Circuit Malfunction (Bank 1 Sensor 3)" so is this the front or rear o2 sensor?

Also check to see if your check engine light comes on when you turn the key to "on" but not start the car. It should light up. IF not, you have a bad bulb or wirinig to the light
