Default Indicator lights tell something is different every day!

I have a 2000 volvo xc70 with 130,000 miles and recently the indicator lights have been coming on with irregularity and inconsistency. One day the indicator will tell me theere is a problem with the brakes over heating, the next it will tell me that the brake is on and the speedometer wont work, and the the next day it tells me there is a problem with the transmission. None of these have had negative effects on the performance, but the transmission light will occasionally put it into limp mode.
Once I turn off the engine and turn it back on, most of the time the problem will go away. Not sure how to read this and if there is a problem with the computer or what? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
