Engine started rattling, so I went underneath to see what was loose.
Outer metal of a module was peeling away from inner layer.
Want to shop for an after market part.
But the names suggested by my friend (a Mopar guy) are yielding no results in the various auto parts websites [resonator or pre muffler].
Need name suggestions.

If it is not obvious, the module I want to replace is rearward of the 2 shown.

 

Muffler.

Mufflers don't really need to be exact fit. You just have the inlet and outlet dimensions. Volvo serviced that whole rear part of the exhaust as an assembly, and so I guess nobody tried to reproduce that. If you don't see parts available when you look for "exhaust" then I guess nobody cares enough to make one.

so you can buy a muffler just based on the dimensions, but it's real work to install one. Rust gets in your eyes.
