Default rust check

Hi all. I have a 2002 Volvo XC70 with no rust as I am very meticulous keeping it clean. It has the electronic rust control also. I am wondering if I should take it to Rust Check (they drill holes to apply the Rust Check), or should just leave it.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Stephen

Leave it alone. Volvo does a great job through material choice and design to keep rust at bay. The holes from the treatment will be the first rusty place on your car!

Thanks, Maybe I will stick with little touch ups using the small can of Rust Check.

Default Totally disagree

Hey - TOTALLY disagree with previous post. Have been taking my cars to Rust Check for years and NEVER had a problem. Yes they drill holes in the car, but how else are they going to get the oil spray in there? Not sure where you're from... I'd go see Kelly in Mississauga... he's been there a long time. It's a 2002... time to definitely start spraying unless you're parking it for the winter...

just my two cents.

Thanks Revvy4. I may take it to my local Rust Check to have a look. So far I see no rust or signs of rust so I want to proceed with caution.

I have a 1989 Sunbird LE that I bought new when I was in college. It has 500,000 km with the original clutch and no rust. I actually do the Rust Check myself since I have all the tools, compressor etc.

I'm from central NY and now live in VT. Very salty places in winter. Wash your car regularly, but don't put extra holes in it. And take care of any breaches in the finish as soon as possible.
