Cna anyone tell me how to remove and then replace the transmission shift **** on a 2001? The button in the shift **** has broken, and I want to see if I can fix it or not.

Specifically I could use instructions on

1. How to remove the **** without damging anything
2. Quick and effective way to repair the ****/button
3. Replacing the **** so it all works agian <grin>

Thanks,

Glenn

1. If it is anything like the previous shiftknobs in Volvo's. Like the ones in the 95-99 models that I have seen. Then what you have is a leather shiftboot. Which you need to twist at the bottom of the actual ****. I forget which direction. It should turn and then you pull it down. Next you need to pull the shift **** straight up. Yeah your going to have a fit trying to do this. Might even break something in your body and or in the car. I'm not joking about this, automatic shift ***** in Volvo's are a true pain to remove. GOOD LUCK!!!

Whew...It seems I got lucky. I was able to repair the button with some epoxy resin. Hopefully it will last as removing the **** sounds really painful!
