Transmission hesitates when accelerated

06 Volvo xc 70 152K. Ocean edition .On some hills, or flat roads, giving it the gas causes a couple of "thump noises' and hesitation like going into neutral before engaging. Very infrequent.

Check fluid level with engine running and fluid warm.

Otherwise, sounds like a hydraulic pressure issue.
