I recently had a situation where one of my ignition coils failed and caused some extremely rough running. I took the car to the my mechanic (not a Volvo expert but decent guy) and he found that the spark plug had actually broken which must have happened just before getting to his shop because the car started really running bad and there was a burning smell at about a mile out. anyway I had him put in 5 new plugs and change out the #2 coil and the car is running great except now there is a loud whining noise which seems to be coming from the turbo. He thinks maybe a piece of the plug got into the turbo and since thats out of his area of expertise, he suggested to just live it. Its kind of irritating and I am afraid it might be doing damage. Does any of this sound right?

 

I would NOT drive any turbo-ed car with a noise as they can disintegrate quickly and send lots of crap into the engine and then you will be hurting big time in the wallet dept.
I bought the SDL from a guy who listened to that advise and after I payed him a grand for the car, I had to put another motor in it due to all the turbo fin pieces in there that were holding valves open!

 

A code reader told me i had an error in ignition coil #2. The auto store says that my 2000 s40 1.9T has 3 coils, and I only see 2 on top? Which one do I change?
