On my 99 v70 xc. I was getting some sweetsmell (glycol) inside the car also with really bad fogging on winshield. I suspected the heatercore leaking. I took off the center kickpanel and verified the leak. Out of curiuosity i had my wife call the dealership to see how much they would charge for changing the heater core out. They quoted her 1200. Wow.. So I decided to do it myself even with all the scary stories you hear about heater cores. I bought a new heater core for 150.00 and deticated a whole day to do it. well guess what, I took me about 1hr and 20min to do the job ( i could do it faster now though). I was a piece of cake to change. i spilled a bit of coolant insided which you can't advoid (one reason to get the carpet cleaned). So any of you out there with a leaking core, don't be intimidated. As for the stealership charging out the *ss is unbelievable. ( my wife owes my big time now If anyone needs help let me know...

 

Some Dealers sell the job with removing the dash. A**es!!!
