Hi

In my Volvo XC70 2010, 88.000 km 3.2 engine, I am experiencing an engine noise, that I can not find where is it. It happens stopped at idle but with some little effort of the engine, like transmission in D or R, or in neutral turning a little bit the steering.
The noise change when you take out the oil cap, but for a while and the appears again without the cap in his position.
I have changed water pump, belt tensioner, belt and the idle roller, Checked the vacuum pump and I found a little play (I am importing a new one) , thinking it was the problem I took away the blade that the vacuum pump has inside, put the cover on again without the blade and I run the engine, same noise.

Have your checked the PCV box to make sure it is working properly - taking the oil cap off will change the crankcase pressure.

 

I have already change the PCV , the complete cover is new, no changes

 

I have found the problem, It was the steering pump, the noise was present in some revolutions of the engine only. I expect it can be useful for another member when they have a similar noise in a 3.2 engine
