Hello Volvo Forums:
Just wan to pass this information to all XC 70 owners:
1. Transmission software update.
2. Electronic Throttle System software update.
Had symptoms on the transmission when stopping at red light then taking off, there was the typical hump when transmission changed from neutral to drive, it was very annoying, so called my local Volvo dealer, and no problem doing the software update. Got it for free.
Throttle System? Well had no problems with it at all yet, you never know later, called my local Volvo dealer, and asked on recent Throttle software update release last month, then I called Volvo's service department for an appointment for the update and today the update was done in half hour time at no cost at all.
New released Electronic Throttle System software update from Volvo refers to: Re-Call #155 update, and it is offered for free to XC70’s vehicles that still under warranty.

The camp 155 software upgrade is something we put on all new volvo's that fixes a vareity of acceleration and idle issues asscotiated with the electronic throttle system. I would highly recommend having the software upgrade done if you own an 02 and up volvo of any model.

2004 XC70 Transmission updates
Just got off the phone with a Volvo Dealership service department techninian in Midlothian, Virginia. Explained that I am having a subtle flare when my 2004 XC70 shifts between 2nd and 3rd gear and if they were able to install updates to the software for the TCM, in the hope that this procedure might smooth out the issue. (I've already changed the transmission fluid and have a VIDA DICE on the way to do and apdaptation reset). The technician informed me that there are no transmission software updates after the 2004 models. Does this sound right to anyone? I got the distinct impression this technician may not have known. Simple - purchase a Dice unit and a VIDA subscription, Perform a download using VIDA to tell the DDM to work.
Or take the car to someone who has a VIDA subscription, and have them do it. (independent, dealer)
