Is this "NORMAL" ?
Almost from when our XC90 was new, there was a problem with climate control: when it iscold outside (winter time), air coming out of the outer dashboard vents is very warm, and air coming out from the center dashboard vents is cold-the temperature difference is about 18F-20F between outer and center vents.
My dealer checked climate control system multiple times, every time I was told "according to computer it works fine".
I had involved Volvo field technician, and, as per service manager at the dealer, the Volvo FT measured 14F difference between outer and center dash vents, and found it "within Volvo's specs".
So,Volvo of NA tells me it is "normal" that you have to drive using one (right) glove, and it is normal that left side of my face is very warm, and right side is cold...
Does anyone else has similar/same problems with your climate control?
If yes, what wasthe solution to the problem?
Thank you for all your help.

RE: Is this "NORMAL" ?
I don't see this problem with our '05 XC90. However, 18 to 20 degrees F. betweenouter vents and the center vent is A LOT of temperature difference.
Personally I don't buy the argument that 14 degrees difference is within Volvo specs. NO CAR I have ever owned has ever exhibited anything like this, and I've owned 20+ of all makes and models dating back to the early 60's models, plus having driven dozens and dozens of rental cars on business over the years. With the current technologies employed, things like regulation of climate control get better, not worse. What you describe isn't climate control, its climate change from tropics on one side to sub-artic on the other.
I don't have any technical perspective on this, only can recommend that you continue to pursue this with the dealer and get Volvo N.A. involved as well. Perhaps one of the Volvo mechanics can chime in and give you some additional info on this as well.
Good luck with getting a speedy resolution, and let us know what the outcome is.

RE: Is this "NORMAL" ?
the 2005 XC90's have had issues with the CCM, i have had them blow a difference like you say. this is always a blend door motor issue, seems the motors are trying to calibrate all the time, this can cause the temp diffrence, i have never NOT had this fix by updating the CCM s/w and recalibrating the CCM i can tell you 14degrees is not "spec" thats a joke.
